When can you start our job?

Most clients have a particular time that they want to see the construction happen. We can accommodate your time frame as long as it is realistic and doesn't conflict with the precursors to opening day.  [ back to top ]

When will you finish it?

There is a reasonable completion date written on every contract. It is our goal to substantially complete the job by then.  [ back to top ]

How long will it take you to get back to us with an estimate?

Usually within 7 to 10 days.  [ back to top ]

Will you beat the lowest price?

We will NOT get into a bid war against another contractor. We WILL work our numbers to accommodate your budget by adjusting the scope of the work.  [ back to top ]

Who will be running our job?

I will be running your job. Every client has access to me via cell phone, fax and email. Actually, every client gets my home phone number also, in case of emergencies. Ask another contractor for their home phone number. It's not likely that you'll get it.  [ back to top ]

Can we stay in our house while the work is going on?

In most cases, yes. However, it all depends on the type of job. We will always spend the time to discuss all of your options.  [ back to top ]

What kind of payments do you accept?

We only accept personal checks, money orders or certified checks for the contracted payment amounts as per the schedule. Should a check bounce, personal checks will no longer accepted. We do prefer cash for any additional work beyond the contract ( AWA's ), but checks are fine for those also.  [ back to top ]

Do you provide the plans?

See the Design/Build page of web site.  [ back to top ]

How long will it take to get Architectural plans? Permits?

See the Design/Build page of web site. Permit times vary by municipality. We do offer an expediting service whenever possible.  [ back to top ]

Who orders the building inspections?

If we are doing just the shell , we will order the foundation and framing inspections. Any inspections thereafter are handled by you. If we are doing the complete project, we will order all the inspections except for the final.  [ back to top ]

Will we need to bring existing violations up to code?

Home Time assumes that your home is up to code. If any violations are discovered it is up to you make sure they are remedied. We will gladly give you a cost estimate and complete the work for you, but by no means are you required to use Home Time to perform the work.  [ back to top ]

Do you use Dumpsters or clean-up services?

We use both. It is really job related. Most of time we will use a rip-out company to demo the roof and remove the rubbish and then leave us with a 20 or 30 yard dumpster for future debris.  [ back to top ]

Can we put stuff in the dumpster?

Dumpsters are a direct job cost. The quantity of rubbish on each job is generally calculated at the time the estimate is prepared. We prefer not to have any non construction debris added to the dumpsters until the end of the job. If your job is completed and there is room in a dumpster, feel free to load it up.  [ back to top ]

Do you do all the work yourself or sub it out?

I sometimes think I am the only one doing all the work. Seriously, we use a combination of in-house labor and subcontractors. I pay all of them very well because I feel they are all worth it. There have been rumors that I have been sited at jobs with my tool belt on, but no one has produced any pictures proving that to be true as of yet.  [ back to top ]

Are all your subs insured?

ABSOLUTELY.  [ back to top ]

Can we use my cousin Vinny the plumber?

I have no problem with any client wanting to use their family or friends to do work on their house as long as they can accommodate our time schedule and will perform their job in a professional manner.  [ back to top ]

Can you get us product discounts?

Most purveyors that we recommend will extend our clients a courtesy discount.  [ back to top ]

Are we on our own when we select the items that we are paying for directly?

No. We will guide you with your selections even if that means accompanying you to the store to make sure the order is correct. Plumbing fixture suppliers are notorious for leaving out items that are critical. Our plumbers show up at the job on their scheduled day only to find that they are missing an integral part to complete their work. Two weeks later the part comes in. Ouch! We check all your purchased items to make sure we have everything when we need it.  [ back to top ]

Can we add the Additional Work Order payments to the next scheduled payment?

Sometimes you can wait to pay them till the next scheduled payment is due. However, we like to keep all contract payments exactly as they are written on the schedule and have a separate accounting for all the AWA's (Additional Work Authorizations).  [ back to top ]

Do we get a discount for paying cash?

Only on the AWA's. It is usually a 5% discount.  [ back to top ]

Who is responsible for our valuable items in the china closet?

You are. We will help you move the heavy objects but it is expected that any thing of value is placed in a safe place away from the construction area.  [ back to top ]

What constitutes a Shell?

We define a shell to include foundation, framing, roofing, windows installed and siding. Basically if you were viewing the project from the outside, it would look completed. Do we do shells only? Yes we do, as defined above, as well as the entire completed project, which we like to call stuffed shells!  [ back to top ]

What do we do if a tarp blows off or leaks?

All our clients get our business phone number, cell phone numbers, faxes,  emails and my home phone number . You are bound to catch us at one of those. We make every effort to tarp your house correctly but there are times when Mother Nature decides to wreak havoc on us all. Call us. We'll get somebody over there to fix the problem.  [ back to top ]

Our neighbor doesn't get up early. Can you start working after 9:00AM?

We'll bring them coffee when we show up at 7:30AM. During the beginning phases of the job we will be there bright and early. As the bulk of the work moves to the inside, we usually will start a little later but then you'll have to supply the coffee.  [ back to top ]

Do you work on weekends?

There are times when we will request to work on the weekends. If that's a problem for you we will surely respect your wishes.  [ back to top ]

How will we know if we are within the dollar allowances?

If there are any allowances built into the contract we will gladly show you the invoice relating to those items.  [ back to top ]
